In other, very belated, news, the 3,000-seater stadium at Hønefoss has been chosen as site for the qualifier against FYR Macedonia on 27 March.

Might get 100 to watch, if they're lucky. No kick-off time announced yet.

Kick off at 14.00.

Categorisation is the Icelanders, not mine.

Looks like Iceland are giving some of their players from their own league a nice trip; from the starting XI that Norway beat in the Euros, Djurgården defender Guðrún Sóley Gunnarsdóttir, Örebro midfielder Edda Gardarsdóttir, Malmö midfielder Dóra Stefánsdóttir (latter had knee surgery in September) are all missing out. Losing to this lot should be inexcusable.

Anneli Giske is out of the Norway squad to go to La Manga after her ankle injury.  Gry Tofte Ims, another midfielder and the Klepp skipper, will go instead.

Hehe, bit of a strange winter for Tofte Ims. Late calls to two NT squads.

Looking at that squad again it does seem ridiculously light on defenders...5 + Rønning...

Just like Toppserien.

Few or weak defenders is a common problem in Norway, it seems.

So much for "but we're boring the kids with efficient football".

But are Nordeide Grønli or Skammelsrud Lund really that poor? (I suppose SNG could have declined due to studying)

They have their moments (although I think Skammels is moving out of the "promising" category and must deliver), but we really don't need another right back. The central defenders remain the biggest problem. Skammels could play central, Grønli is too goal-oriented.

We'll see, I guess. I'm just worried that we'll lose Skammels, Holstad Berge, Vikestad (just looked up a few more names that are more likely candidates for central defence) because they aren't called up and see no prospect in an NT career, when they should be getting into prime age for central defenders.

I completely agree with you. I seem to remember Eli being overly interested in right backs, while the central defense is the real issue. Of the good candidates except those you mentioned, all are really midfielders or former midfielders: Solfrid Andersen, Maren Mjelde, Trine Rønning. Or they're too young (Utland), old* (Mortensen, Mørkved, Knutson) or Finnish (Vaelma, Salmen).

Anyone know if they'll be any online play-by-plays for the Sweden match?

All I've found is unibet's live score...which currently claim Norway are 2-1 up after two early goals in the first 12 minutes.

Yup, 2-2...disappointing to give away a big lead. Defence clearly still an issue.

Definitely not worth a translation. Half of the article was saying U.S. beat Iceland 2-0 and Germany beat Denmark 4-0.
